OUR STORY
Retreat is the passion project of Kimberly Padgett and Michelle Rothman, two SF based estheticians, who met over a decade ago while working together at a skin care salon. Kimberly, a 20+ year veteran of esthetics was contemplating a departure from the industry until she met Michelle, a newly licensed esthetician, who was passionate about the new career she was embarking on. Michelle’s enthusiasm and eagerness to learn ignited a renewed passion for skincare in Kimberly. This symbiotic relationship allowed each woman to grow their knowledge and hone in to elevate their craft. After 5 years of working together, they realized that it was time to go out on their own and actualize their shared vision of creating an environment for clients to RENEW, RELAX and RECHARGE.
Our Values
Inclusivity is a big part of Retreat’s mission. We welcome people of all gender presentations, sexualities, ages, races, body types and socio-economic backgrounds to feel safe and celebrated, while receiving self care. Helping people feel good in and about their bodies is one of the most rewarding parts of the work we do. We pride ourselves on developing deep personal relationships with our clients, urging them to reach out for encouragement and advice to support the treatments they’ve received in-salon.
We aim to work with vendors that are environmentally and socially conscious, women and/or minority owned and local when possible. Check out our online shop for a full view of all products we carry.
Our Community
Retreat is part of a district of small and boutique businesses owned by many of its locals, including us! The Lower Haight is a favorite destination spot of restaurants, bars and shops. There is something for everyone. Our clients enjoy the variety this eclectic neighborhood has to offer during their visits.
We pride ourselves on having friendly and supportive relationships with our neighbors, and we love participating in the multitude of events that celebrate our community.
